Since the Start of the 2021 Season, the Top Fantasy Players Are: 1. Cooper Kupp, 2. Josh Allen – Fantasy Games Won Week 6 Update

What is FGW? Go back to the shadows, I mean Week 1.

This past week, I went back and applied the updates to FGW to 2021 data. Had two purposes in mind:

  1. Update the dFGW equation
  2. Start compiling the All Time FGW Leaderboard

I did not expect to find evidence that Josh Allen is setting himself to be a legitimate 1st round fantasy pick.

Wait, what?

That’s right – over the last 23 fantasy weeks (Week 18 doesn’t count), Josh Allen is solidly the #2 asset by Fantasy Games Won.

And that’s not even adjusting for ADP! Granted, Cooper Kupp would probably be first in that one as well, but the gap from Allen to Ekeler and Taylor would widen even more.

This means that if you were to go back to the start of 2021 and draft in a dynasty league…and if you had the #2 pick, maybe not picking again until #23…it’s starting to look like the right answer might have been Josh Allen. Just maybe.

I told you, Doc, we can’t surgically remove bad ideas from a patient. We’d have to remove the whole brain. Which we have confirmed is in there.

I did not retroactively change any of the trophies/results of 2021. I’m actually a sports fan so I know that retroactively changing the champions is dumb. But the all time list is by the modern scoring system.

Housekeeping

Updated the dFGW equation based on the addition of replacement factor. Not quite as big of an ADP penalty for the higher picks, as their FGW for 2021 is tamped down a bit due to the replacement factor.

Who Won The Week?

  • Ja’Marr Chase likes to gobble up tons of points all at once. Following the Tyreek Hill model a bit.
  • Rhamondre Stevenson will be the latest in a long line of Patriots running backs to trick people into depending on him. LeGarrette Blount was one of a kind.
  • Christian McCaffrey would score 19 points with Shane Falco at QB. No, with Keanu Reeves at QB.
  • Where TF did the Colts offense come from? Michael Pittman finally with a game that mildly lives up to his dad’s biceps.
  • As a Jets fan, it felt like Breece Hall had 40 fantasy points. Granted, he was 2 yards from about 31 fantasy points.
  • I keep getting calls from “friendly police officers” asking if I have any connections to Nathaniel Hackett. On an unrelated note, I was playing against Gordon in 3 separate fantasy leagues last week.
  • We have a representative from…Edwards-Helaire! Smith-Schuster! Valdes-Scantling! The Legion of Last Names!
  • I knew Geno was doing to drop off a bit. Still had to use him in a league but I knew it was coming. Wish the 71% of Lockett owners and 84% of Metcalf owners knew Geno like Jets fans know Geno.
  • Which backfield is worse for fantasy…the Patriots, or the Niners?
  • Like the Love Bug, Justin Herbie has a mind of his own.

Leaderboard Updates

  • This means that Josh Allen owners are, on average, sitting at 4.3-1.7 on the year.
  • And now we have 1 QB, 2 TEs, and 2 WRs helping their fantasy teams more than any running back.
  • GTFO of here, Daniel Carlson. This list is for football players.
  • Same to you, Buffalo Defense. No hive minds.
  • When exactly did we establish that Terry McLaurin was good? I’m fairly certain he’s been paying someone off at Pro-Football-Reference to show a few 1,000 yard seasons in there.
  • If I were JuJu I would definitely go by JeuJeu.
  • Najee with an almost average game. WHAT SAY YOU, NAJEE?
  • Brady is divorcing his fantasy relevance.
  • DJ Moore with the DJ “Most” title, as in “Most Pain”.
  • Unfortunately for AJ Dillon, we don’t adjust dFGW for quad size. Mike Davis tried to propose that last year.
  • Only major differences here with the new dFGW equation is a bit of relief for Jonathan Taylor.

The Full List

  • If I’m trading draft picks, I’m trading for top 2-round picks. You can’t stop me.
  • Kenneth Walker with a chance to be the only player worth a damn drafted after Round 7.

Gotta run – my arm needs a break after patting Josh Allen on the back for the last hour. For everyone that thought his prowess would translate into reliable points for anyone besides Stefon Diggs, just remember we’re all going down in this ship together. It’s been a privilege and an honor.

Good luck in Week 7!
