I’m Afraid The Correct First Pick Was KELCE, Yes, KELCE was the correct answer – Fantasy Games Won (FGW) Week 11 Update

What is FGW? Go back to the shadows, I mean Go Back To Week 1.

Short Version – FGW is the likely number of Head-to-Head fantasy football matchups a player has won his team. dFGW is FGW adjusted for ADP.

I know, I know, the season isn’t over yet. But some teams are starting to get eliminated – so the leader after Week 11 is a big deal, and Kelce has a big lead.

And Kelce rarely made it to Round 3 in any draft, so the only guarantee to get Kelce was to take him when you had the chance. 1st overall couldn’t wait for him in Round 2.

It’s also possible I’m not making any sense. Like many of us, I’m logging in from an unusual location with way more blood relatives within 100 yards than is typical. I will leverage the extra calories from Thanksgiving to plow through and properly channel any additional family-induced gratuitous hot takes.

This is also the first time since the Tagliabue was in charge that I’ve had a fantasy team mathematically eliminated from the playoffs before Thanksgiving – and it was a team going for a three-peat, too. It’s not my fault, though, it was windy as hell out there.

Totally unrelated, we have a new addition to the Dad Names! After dubbing Justin “Jordan” Jefferson in Week 2 and Amari “Amani” Cooper in Week 3, I excitedly told my wife that “Kyle” Wilson was benched for Sunday. Let’s hope the positive Dad Name karma continues….

Jets fans know how this ends.

Who Won The Week?

  • Travis Kelce’s fantasy record is cleaner than a Mormon’s diet. It feels like he should be more than 2/3 of the way to Tony Gonzalez’s receiving yards record, too. Kind of absurd that the Chiefs have have spent the last 25 years with Gonzalez or Kelce at TE. It’s the middle class man’s version of Favre/Rodgers.
  • I’m part of the 21% stuck benching Tony Pollard every week. The only team where I have him he’s stuck behind Chubb and McCaffrey and Flex is WR/TE only.
  • I don’t think this was the monster Kittle game. I think it’s still coming.
  • Tony Pollard and Jamaal Williams have a folding table and a sign saying “Robin is more talented than Batman, Change My Mind”
  • I used to think it would be fun to add offensive linemen and punters to fantasy football. Thanks to players like Brett Maher and Graham Gano, I know that I used to be stupid.
  • Funny doing this article after CeeDee Lamb, Josh Allen, and Justin Jefferson have already redeemed themselves.
  • I got to answer a question on Thursday: “Who’s number 18 on the Vikings? He had to take his grills out before answering questions.”
  • Actually that’s a lot of players on the Red List that had a Thanksgiving day game looking. Cousins, Barkley, Cook…maybe they had to start clearing out box score room when everyone else was clearing stomach room.

Leaderboard Updates

  • Outside of their Week 8 bye, neither Kelce nor Mahomes has had a below-average-for-fantasy-starter game since Week 3.
  • Cooper Kupp has a chance to hold onto top-12 for the year. Especially if Tyreek is going to have a stinker game or four, like he used to have in KC.
  • Justin Fields sneakily on the top 20 because he was almost universally benched for the first 8 weeks.
  • Is Cam Akers gonna do something this year? It feels like he has to. Murphy’s law situation.
  • David Montgomery starting to turn it around.
  • Really right race for LVP. If it’s Brady, it justifies the existence of this entire blog.
  • However, the favorite for finishing the season as the LVP is probably Kyle “Money” Pitts. After spending thinking he’ll turn it around in ‘Two Weeks’ he’s finally foreclosed on the fantasy season.

Website Exclusives

  • Jamaal Williams might be tricking himself into thinking he’s an early 200s 250-lb TD Vulture like TJ Duckett at this point.
  • Amari Cooper, sneakily a frustrating player this year.
  • Samaje Perine at 0% started on average is really funny to me. Everyon except Zac Taylor thinks he’s mediocre.
  • I’m not adjusting the columns for CEH purely out of spite at this point.

The Full List

  • Get this – the best pick from Round 4 this year is still Breece Hall, given when you were likely to be starting him.
  • Round 8 also now has a head-and-shoulders pick in Tony Pollard.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is making progress on their Gobbler hoagies. If you still have a shot at the playoffs but you need Marlon Mack to show up in Denver to do so, just remember that we’re all going down in this ship together. It’s been a privilege and an honor.

Good luck in Week 12!
